Why I Chose Direct Primary Care and Integrative Medicine
When I decided to open Nova Pediatrics, it wasn’t because I wanted to practice medicine differently—it was because I wanted to practice medicine the way I always believed it should be.
As a pediatrician, I’ve had the privilege of caring for children and their families for many years. During that time, I realized that some of the most important conversations in medicine simply don’t fit into a 10- or 15-minute appointment.
Parents deserve the opportunity to ask questions without feeling rushed. Children deserve a physician who has the time to truly understand them—not just their symptoms, but their personality, environment, nutrition, sleep, stress, and daily challenges.
That realization led me to combine two approaches that perfectly align with my philosophy: Direct Primary Care (DPC) and Integrative Medicine.
Why Direct Primary Care?
Traditional healthcare often places physicians under pressure to see more patients in less time. While this system works in many ways, it can make it difficult to provide the personalized care that many families are seeking.
The DPC model allows me to spend significantly more time with each child and family.
Instead of rushing through a visit, we can have meaningful conversations about your child’s health. We can explore concerns in depth, answer every question, and create a plan that is practical and individualized.
Because I care for fewer families, I am able to provide:
- Longer appointments
- Same-day or next-day visits when possible
- Direct communication with me through phone, text, or messaging
- More personalized follow-up
- Preventive care focused on keeping children healthy rather than simply treating illness
My goal is to build long-term relationships with families—not just provide quick visits.
Why Integrative Medicine?
Children are wonderfully unique, and their healthcare should reflect that.
Integrative medicine combines the best of evidence-based conventional medicine with nutrition, lifestyle medicine, behavioral health, and carefully selected complementary therapies.
When a child struggles with concerns such as ADHD, anxiety, autism, chronic constipation, headaches, allergies, eczema, or recurrent infections, I don’t just ask, “What medication can help?”
I also ask:
- Why is this happening?
- Are there nutritional deficiencies?
- Could sleep be contributing?
- Is inflammation playing a role?
- Are there environmental or lifestyle factors we can improve?
- How can we support the body while addressing symptoms?
Sometimes medication is the right answer. Sometimes nutrition, sleep optimization, stress reduction, or targeted supplementation can make a meaningful difference. Often, the best results come from thoughtfully combining these approaches.
Caring for the Whole Child
Every child is more than a diagnosis.
Behind every ADHD evaluation is a child who wants to succeed.
Behind every anxiety diagnosis is a child who wants to feel safe and confident.
Behind every family seeking answers is a parent doing everything they can to help their child thrive.
My role is to partner with families, listen carefully, and develop a plan that supports the whole child—physically, emotionally, and developmentally.
A Different Kind of Pediatric Practice
Nova Pediatrics was created to be a place where families feel heard, supported, and empowered.
Whether your child needs routine pediatric care or you’re looking for a more comprehensive approach to behavioral, developmental, or chronic health concerns, my goal is to provide thoughtful, compassionate, and personalized care.
I believe medicine works best when there is time to listen, time to educate, and time to build trust.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your family’s healthcare journey. I look forward to partnering with you to help your child grow into their healthiest, happiest self.
